Early in his career, Bernie Wrightson often drew Frankenstein based on Boris Karloff, and he would eventually craft a memorable version, the Patchwork Man, for Swamp Thing, which he co-created with Len Wein. In this very cool drawing, Wrightson tentatively toys with his version of Mary Shelley's monstrosity and its maker, years before he would faithfully illustrate the FRANKENSTEIN novel in his definitive illustrated version. Graphite and ink, the art is drawn on the back of drawing paper folded twice and sent it as a letter to an artist friend named DON, As Wrightson writes very personally about his life and how he has been reborn, with a new sense of his art style being more free flowing and he asks Don if he can meet Frank (Frazetta perhaps?) Art Measures 8.5" x 11", and aside from two horizontal mailing folds, the work is in Excellent condition. Just a great PERSONAL note with 2 ink drawings of the Frankenstein monster With 1 set of penciled eyes, and 4 images of Dr Frankenstein with 1 set of his nose and mouth also!
