Check out this wonderfully rendered, VERY LARGE Science fiction Pinup, which was created ENTIRELY by the great Bernie Wrightson! This large piece features 14 Sea Monsters and 1 Sexy Nude Mermaid! This fully finished pinup was created in various markers and ink. Art is quite large, with an actual drawn image area measuring 19.8 by 18 inches on drawing paper. Art was created for the Science Fiction movie: Dagon, working title: "Shadow Over Innsmouth". (1986) Master horror artist Bernie Wrightson was tapped by Full Moon Entertainment to come up with the art for a film adaptation of the 1931 H.P. Lovecraft novella "Shadow Over Innsmouth". Intended for production in 1991, the project evolved over the next decade into the movie Dagon (2001). The story forms part of the Cthulhu Mythos, using its motif of a malign undersea civilization, and references several other shared elements of the Mythos. In The story this art was created for, The narrator is a student on an antiquarian tour of New England. He sees a piece of exotic jewelry in a museum, and learns that its source is the nearby decrepit seaport of Innsmouth. He travels to Innsmouth and observes disturbing events and people. A local resident tells him a horrifying story of aquatic monsters who can interbreed with humans to produce amphibian hybrids. The student is tricked into staying overnight in the town, and he is attacked in his hotel. He flees, but finds that his pursuers are the hybrid monsters of his informant’s story. He alerts the authorities, who take drastic action. He then discovers that he has alien ancestors and must eventually return to the sea. It is the only H.P. Lovecraft story which was published in book form during his lifetime. ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website!
