Before Corto Maltese, there was Sgt. Kirk. Working at that time in Argentina, Hugo Pratt already stood out by creating, with the writer Oesterheld, an atypical character, who deserts from the American army and befriends the Indians. An essential milestone for fans of the Maestro who want to understand how his work in ink progresses. Sgt Kirk was published, for the first time, in Argentina, on the magazine "Misterix" from number 297 dated 5-28-1954 to number 319 dated 10-29-1954. This strip you see right here was drawn in May 1954 for publishing in June 1954. The story "Circle of death" "was divided in four parts. The second part is titled "in search of help at Puesto Solo" In Italy this art was published, for the first time in number 24 of the monthly magazine Sgt. Kirk in June 1969. Everything you see here is all hand drawn, Ink on paper with an image area of 12.6 by 8.25 inches. ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website!
