Check out this beautifully penciled and inked 1972 Bernie Wrightson Swamp Thing #2 climactic all out battle page, from the story titled: "The Man Who Wanted Forever!" This grisly page captures Alec Holland in a moment of brutal clarity, as Arcane, in his warped ambition, exchanges his body for the Swamp Thing's body, & Holland ultimately realizes the terrible cost. In the final panel, a furious Arcane, inhabiting Swamp Thing's form, screams in despair as the body slips from his grasp. Wrightson's inking brush is in full force here, shaping every sinewy figure and shadow-drenched corner with masterful detail, offering an early glimpse of the gothic brilliance he would soon bring to life in his legendary Frankenstein. This incredible page is sure to give you a thrill, that only the great BERNIE WRIGHTSON can draw! From his groundbreaking work on Swamp Thing, into the "Studio" era with colleagues Barry Windsor Smith, Michael Kaluta, and Jeff Jones, and onto mainstream visibility in the 1980's with projects like Cycle of the Werewolf and Creepshow, Wrightson's accomplishment and influence has been as broad as any artist emerging from the realm of comic art. His work in comics and illustration art is in a class by itself among collectors and fans of the medium. ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out.
