Check out this historic EARLY Four-panel PEANUTS strip by the great Charles Schulz that was published April 21, 1958. Just eight years after the comic strip debuted in newspapers across the country, Schulz had fully fleshed out his characters, both in look and in personality. This Strip features a VERY EARLY funny baseball scene, showing Charlie Brown and Lucy Van Pelt as her older modern self in every panel. Standing in the outfield, Charlie loudly declares "I Got It! I Got It!" which causes Lucy to go on and on, repetitively shouting things like "You Want It? Take It! Who Needs It?" at Charlie. As he successfully catches the ball, he is clearly annoyed by her philosophical insight into America's Pastime. This is also A VERY EARLY STRIP WHERE Charlie exclaims his famous "Good Grief!" in defeat. While not pulling away a football as she is so infamous for, Lucy still manages to turn the screws to good ol' Charlie Brown with expected comical results. In this late '50s strip, Schulz once again connects his readers with his characters, using something as simple as a pick-up baseball game as a metaphor for life's frustrations. Schulz signed last name at bottom right of last panel. Second panel has United Features Syndicate Inc. copyright strip. First panel has printed "Peanuts" title, which has some glue staining. Last panel has a spot of aging above Charlie Brown's head, but otherwise art remains clean. Each panel is a separate piece, which was common back in the 1950s as people gifted these strips would sometimes split them up to show separately. Panels Are each placed how they should be on art board to present as they originally were and they present very well on 27.75" x 7.25 art board. Just a Great example of a rare 1950s Peanuts comic strip here!
