In 1958 the legendary Jack Kirby returned to work for the company that would soon be known as Marvel Comics for the first time since leaving in 1941 after he and his partner Joe Simon felt they were not getting their fair share of the profits from their creation of Captain America. Until there were enough superheroes to fill his very large plate, Kirby worked on short stories for Marvel's various genre anthologies. This 'Twice-up' (large art) page comes from one of those stories, a suspense tale called "I Don't Believe in Ghosts" that was published in Journey Into Mystery #77. It tells the tale of a Ghost-Breaker, a man who is an expert at debunking claims of supernatural activity. On this page we see him providing reasonable explanations for what his client thought were ghosts haunting their property. Of course, these short tales always had a twist ending. In this one it turns out he's a Ghost-Breaker because he is a ghost himself, and wants to prevent haunted houses from being demolished, rendering their occupants homeless. Compare this great page to the published comic book page in the red link above. SILVER AGE pages are VERY hard to find in the hobby these days, so don't miss out on a great opportunity here to own this nice SILVER AGE page right here! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out. $4,000.00
