Check out this beautifully penciled and inked PUBLISHED "LARGE" 1975 Bernie Wrightson SPLASH page. Star-Lord was tearing it up on the silver screen in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy hit film! He first appeared in Marvel Preview #4, And That FIRST APPEARANCE issue was all Star-Lord, and that issue had a very similar Bernie Wrightson one-page frontispiece. This illustration was an unpublished alternative frontispiece for that book. BUT... It was thought of so much by Bernie Wrightson that he chose to PUBLISH it three years later in his EVER CLASSIC collection titled: "Bernie Wrightson: A Look Back" (Click The Red link Above to see THIS PUBLISHED ART) Art is Signed in the lower right corner. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13.2" x 19". From his groundbreaking work on Swamp Thing, into the "Studio" era with colleagues Barry Windsor Smith, Michael Kaluta, and Jeff Jones, and onto mainstream visibility in the 1980's with projects like Cycle of the Werewolf and Creepshow, Wrightson's accomplishment and influence has been as broad as any artist emerging from the realm of comic art. His work in comics and illustration art is in a class by itself among collectors and fans of the medium.
