Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD #10 (2 Covers! JOHNNY CRAIG & JOHN ROMITA INKING) 1968

Check out this nice 2 cover set which was penciled by Frank Springer, Inked by Johnny Craig, and John Romita Sr doing multiple touch ups throughout the cover to create the final 1968 Marvel cover! Here is how this entire process happened. The original 1968 cover was all drawn originally in 1968. (The left side cover) The ivy at bottom center was always a production stat) Marvel then decided they wanted all 4 ornaments with Nick Fury, The Hate-Monger, Fury's girlfriend Laura Brown, & Fury's Car in different areas of the cover as they wanted the VILLAIN to be the most prominent image on the published cover. Editing made stats of all 4 original ornament images and placed these stats on top of the original drawn cover art in different order and that's how this cover was published. (The image on the right is the actual PUBLISHED COVER that matches the published comic book.) This Cover was professionally cleaned in 2010 and the 4 stats were removed from the original cover and cover on the left is the all drawn artwork that was under the stats. The 4 stats (with some inking and whiteout touch ups on them) were placed onto another newly made cover. (Cover on the right!) Again..... A lot of drawn artwork is also on the cover to the right, as the 3 largest stats have a significant amounts of inking and whiteout touch ups on the original stats as well as extra inking around the stat images that needed drawn for publishing. Fury's car was also drawn as a normal car originally on the left image, and for the published cover they needed to make the car a flying car so the tires and area below the car frame is all drawn and fury behind the wheel of the car is all drawn also on the published cover to the right. The Laura Brown stat is the only stat on image to right with no extra artwork or touch ups on it as that image was never reduced or enlarged from original drawn cover. Cover on the right has the original October 8 1968 Marvel copyright stamp on back of it also. Compare these nice covers to the published comic book in the red link above!
