Check out this STUNNING Large art 1962 Silver-Age Sci-Fi cover, which was penciled and inked by the great Murphy Anderson, whose lively covers attracted many a fan to DC's flagship science-fiction titles -- this large-scale gem uses a ground-level viewpoint to emphasize the disastrous menace posed by a runaway alien dog-lizard pet. Editor Julius Schwarz had built a brilliant career from his origins in SF fandom, and though better known for such superhero titles as The Flash and Justice League, he held a special fondness for Strange Adventures and its kindred books. Many a schoolkid graduated from the DC SF books to such high-minded prose-SF magazines as Analog and Galaxy. Schwartz relished his science-fiction titles, which he insisted must be provocative and respectful of his readers' intelligence (He sought a prophetic voice, as well). Though better known for such superhero titles as The Flash and Justice League, Schwartz held fast to his Depression-era origins in SF fandom. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above!
