Jim Steranko may very well be the most sought after artist in our hobby, not because he is the greatest artist (though he is considered legendary) but because it’s virtually impossible to find any of his BEST work. Here we are fortunate to offer Miss April: THE BLOND PHANTOM, from his heralded Calendar Girls. Just having the published calendar is enough for most collectors because they have given up hope of ever putting a Steranko original in their collection. This beautiful sexy female is actually a depiction of the Golden Age super heroine: "The Blonde Phantom" (though some may have thought it to be Madame Hydra). Jim Steranko wanted his Supergirls to be based on characters whose origins began in the Golden Age of comics. I believe that The Blonde Phantom was the 1st female superhero to carry a gun! Steranko also drew a version of her wearing her signature dress as part of his cover montage for Steranko's History Of The Comics, Vol. 2. A beautifully-detailed Illustration, done in a classic pulp-cover style, vintage Steranko art like this here drawn in 1973 (For the 1974 calendar) is extremely rare to the marketplace these days as there are only 12 of these plates in existence! Art is drawn quite large, on 15 by 23 inch thick art board, and Blond phantom measures 14 inches from head to toe! Just a great cover type pinup! Compare this nice art to the published calendar in the red link above! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out. $20,000.00
