Dave Cockrum penciled and Tom Palmer inked this splendid Double Splash for Pages 52-53 for The Ultimate X-Men Hardcover Guide Book. Fifteen of the most iconic X-Men are rendered by none other than Giant-Size X-Men co-creator and definitive mutant maestro Dave Cockrum, making for a truly uncanny mutant masterpiece! The artwork features the original five X-Men -- Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Iceman, Angel, and Beast -- alongside latecomers Havok and Polaris, the second genesis squad of Storm, Banshee, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Sunfire, and Wolverine, as well as a headshot of their leader and mentor, Professor Charles Xavier. Spanning two pages, this artwork was originally published in Peter Sanderson's comprehensive Ultimate X-Men guidebook, which chronicles the rich history of Marvel's mutants, and was later repurposed in 2009 as card #P2 in Rittenhouse Archives' X-Men Archives trading card set. The art itself has an image area of 19" x 12" on much larger art boards. The art is signed and dated by Dave Cockrum and inker Tom Palmer in lower left.
