Check out this incredibly detailed 1970 PUBLISHED Jim Steranko Comic Crusader #8 Black Cat Back Cover Original Art! Fresh off his game-changing run on Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Steranko turned in this saucy send-up of Harvey's Golden Age superheroine: The Black Cat for the back cover of this prolific fanzine. Known in the 1940s as both a glamorous movie star and masked crime-fighter, "Hollywood's Glamorous Crime-Fighter" is caught here in a much more revealing moment. Often called the first rock star of comics, Steranko brought innovative design, bold storytelling, and a dash of danger to everything he touched. This piece, originally personalized to fanzine publisher "Marty" Greim (since removed), showcases his flair for combining pulp nostalgia with daring presentation. Greim and Steranko had a strong creative rapport, with the artist contributing to several issues of the fanzine. The publication itself was a key part of comic fandom history, known for spotlighting both industry pros and up-and-comers, mixing serious writing with standout artwork. This Steranko gem is no exception -- a playful, provocative piece from one of comics' most fearless innovators.
