Check out this beautifully rendered LATE GOLDEN AGE 1956 Russ Heath penciled and inked Our Army at War #56 Page from the story titled: "Face of the Enemy!". Best known for his co-creation of "The Haunted Tank" in G.I. Combat, Heath was recognized for his detailed and realistic art, known as a master of texture and lighting, as is illustrated in this featured page with A rookie soldier in World War II who longs to meet the Nazi enemy face-to-face in this intense sequence. The irony is that the soldier is kept at a distance and then forced to fire blind as the opposition stirs up a dirt-storm. The thrown grenade (lower right) crosses the horizontal gutter between panels, creating a three-dimensional illusion. Prime early work from Heath, who also has the advantage of a challenging script by DC's most accomplished writer-editor of battlefront stories, Robert Kanigher. Rendered at twice-up scale. Compare this great page to the published comic book page in the red link above. ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out.
