There might be another comic universe better known for their Zombies. There arguably is no better depiction than right here! Created by the award winning Swamp Thing Team of Alan Moore, Steven Bissette and John Totleben. Set within the midst of the "American Gothic" Story arc: Another "lightning in a Bottle" moment in Comics. This piece is an amazing example of how Totleben utilizes white-out for effect on the Zombies, Moon and Moss on the tree. Additionally, evidence of Totleben's fine linework that fails to transcend to the published comic. "(Below, All The Bitter Years Recalling The Squandered Breaths That You did not Savor, Believing them to be Infinite...)"(Frustrated, Sleepless...Forgotten About? Does Anyone Remember? A Fragment of History, Buried, Obsolete, Dead Buried, Longing to be a Seed, To have Possibilities Again...), Finally, HE Could Stand it NO Longer. He Got UP. Bissette & Totleben, members of the first graduating class of the Joe Kubert Comic Art Acadamy, are famous for giving "shout-outs" to friends and co-collaborators. Noting the Tombstones in the bottow left corner: R.David Pratt: a friend of artists Steve Bissette and John Totleben. He performed in a production of "The Buried Child" at Theatre 145 in (Totleben's home town) Erie, Pennsylvania in October, 2008. Tom Stazer: Another friend of Bissette and Totleben, Tom Stazer is creator of the 1980's independent comic book "SPACED". His "Lionheart" strip appeared in Fantagraphics' CRITTERS comic book series in the late 1980's, for which he drew a number of covers. James Wheelock: Comics creator whom Artist Steve Bissette wrote about in Alan Moore: Portrait of an Extraordinary Gentleman. Bissette thanks Wheelock for his ideas for the issue #45 story. Wheelock's name also appears in Swampthing Annual #4.
