Check out this quite possibly VERY HISTORIC ROBERT CRUMB piece right here, featuring a bevy of characters, as well as it being published in the ROBERT CRUMB 1967-1974 SKETCHBOOK! We have basically 4 separate scenes with the first scene featuring 6 cars with human-like faces on them freaking out as the street sweeper machine comes near them. Then we see a crazy vintage Crumb wide jawed kid yelling out "HAW" as a happy go lucky guy and his kid both in the same pose, walk by. Then we get an interesting surreal look at a man at his work desk with a blank face and blank word balloon above him. But what makes this entire piece VERY HISTORIC is the very last scene which features a person getting ripped from a room into a little black hole as he screams "OY!" as only his legs and shoes are still left to be sucked into the hole. If you don't realize what else is going on, that's OK, as we actually see the "KEEP ON TRUCKIN GUY" watching in disbelief at what has just happened from the open window to the right! (This could be 1 of Crumb's first attempts on this famous character he created!) Keep On Truckin' is one of those phrases that feels as if it birthed itself. The phrase was popularized by underground cartoonist R. Crumb in 1968 with a one-page comic. This drawing on paper measures 7.6 by 9.7 inches. Compare this nice drawing to the published drawing and the Crumb Sketchbook in the red link above!
