Check out this very nice LARGE Painted page which was created ENTIRELY by the great Bernie Wrightson, from the story titled: "Hooky!" This nice painting features Spider-Man in EVERY PANEL as he meets the main side character of the story for the very first time: "Marandi Sjorokker!" Art is drawn beautifully and hand colored by the great Bernie Wrightson on 15 by 22 inch thick Bainbridge art board, and is signed at the bottom! The legendary artist created this page using ink and watercolor on board. Wrightson was not very active in comic books in the middle 1980s when this graphic novel was produced so the release of this story was an event. The quality of the art was exceptional for an American superhero comic and the setting, a fantasy-based alternative dimension, was a new one for Spider-Man. The story is fondly remembered and it is certainly some of the most visually sumptuous Spider-Man art of the period. Bernie Wrightson's work on mainstream superhero comics outside of Batman had been relatively limited in his long career, making published depictions of major heroes few and far between on the market. The graphic novel art offered here is Wrightson's only published Spider-Man work, making "Hooky" art pretty unique. Since the beginning of his professional career in the 1970s, Wrightson has been considered a true master of the macabre and the fantasy setting of this story allowed him to incorporate some of his interests into a Spider-Man story. Just a great opportunity here to own a NICE SPIDER-MAN painting by this ICONIC artist!
