Check out this very nice 1999 SUPERMAN cover, which was penciled by Doug Mahnke, and inked by Dennis Janke, from the story titled: "Robots Run Riot!" Superman battles his Superman robots on this great battle cover. Mahnke depicts a highly detailed and visceral scene, with an intense Superman looking like he's in the fight of his life! The very first Superman robot appeared in the Superman solo story in World's Finest Comics #42 (1949). The robots, who were usually kept in Superman's Fortress of Solitude, appeared frequently in the early Silver Age. They were often used to throw Lois Lane off track in her attempts to prove that Superman was really Clark Kent. The robots were not used much during the late Silver and Bronze eras, but they returned after the John Byrne post-Crisis revamp, when many of the concepts from Superman's past came back for nostalgic reasons! Just a great cover! Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website!
