Check out this very nice SILVER AGE DC SUPER HERO page, which was penciled by the great Gil Kane, and inked by John Celardo, from the story titled: "Judgment in a Small, Dark Place!" This AWESOME Gil Kane splash page is an ideal example of the more bombastic style the artist developed starting in the mid-1960s, when his characters started to feel like they were leaping right off the page. This ability served Kane well as Marvel's primary cover artist for much of the 1970s. This splash comes from the final issue of the Silver Age DC title, Hawk and Dove, created by Steve Ditko and featuring two brothers with opposing viewpoints on the best way to approach the turbulent times of the late 1960s. Hank "Hawk" Hall was the aggressive one and Don "Dove" Hall believed in turning the other cheek. This splash features "Hawk" landing 3 punches and practically knocking his target right into the reader's lap. Gil Kane was truly a master of comic art and this is a great example of the immense power he was able to bring to his work in the late Silver Age. Kane is an industry legend and this work comes from a period when he was evolving his style to keep up with the changing tastes of readers in the late 1960s, something not all of his peers were able to do. Kane drew the final four issues of Hawk and the Dove, taking over with issue #3 from Ditko!
