Steve Ditko tries his hand at Dr. Strange Again just "MONTHS" after leaving Marvel Comics, as he draws a Master of the (Dark) Mystic arts in this twice-up ink-wash splash page from Warren's Eerie #5! Dating from 1966, this SPLASH coincides with the end of Ditko's run on his creation, Doctor Strange, in Marvel's Strange Tales. The dark wizard, Valdar, in this piece certainly bears a striking resemblance to the Sorcerer Supreme as well as having traits of Strange's nemesis Baron Mordo. The figuration in the lower large panels is classic Ditko, with Valdar making the dramatic "Ditko Hands" gestures fans of the artist seek-out in vintage pieces. The inking here is also exceptional with Ditko's wash work building up a dramatic scene of Black Magic with Monsters appearing in a sleepy mountain village! Steve Ditko is one of the most influential and collected comic book artists in the history of the Comics industry and his visionary works featuring mystic themes are among his most coveted and elusive. Ditko ink-wash pages are also very sought-after by serious collectors and by default, they are in very short supply considering how few black and white stories he produced for Warren. This is compounded by the fact that the lucky few who do own these rare gems rarely part with them, as they know how infrequently they come up for sale! Don't miss out on a great opportunity here to own a nice SILVER Age 1960's LARGE ART Steve Ditko Wash SPLASH page! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to and we can try to work something out.
