Check out these 2 INCREDIBLY HISTORIC quite detailed Costume / Character Drawings in Ink dated 1958/59 of Hawkman (Katar Hol) Hawkgirl (Shayera Hol) is drawn from edge to edge on 8 by 10.5 inch drawing paper, with the bottom right corner having the corner missing. the Hawkgirl image measures 6.25 by 10.25 inches and is drawn from edge to edge. These both are the very first concept renderings of the Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl. and EACH image is signed dated in Kubert's hand with notes on the Hawkman sheet "Suggest Mask (as in original Hawkman) to "Strike Fear in the Hearts of Evil Doers". If Logical Reason For Flight Is Necessary, Could Have Rocket Strapped in back, between wings... Kubert also notes the colors for Hawkman's costume as well as showing a close up of Hawkman's shoe with wings on it, as well as what Hawkman looks like without his mask on, as Hawkman (Katar Hol) is shown, as Kubert also notes that his real hair is blond. Each piece is signed and dated 1959/59 by Kubert. These drawings were pinned for years to the corners of Joe Kubert's drawing table until put away for safe keeping by his wife. This art was also used as the FRONT COVER to the 1979 Chicago Comic-Con program! The Hawkman image has 3 pieces of magic tape on it to mend tears. The tape has not yellowed at all. Just 2 incredibly historic, 1 of a kind pieces of Comic Book History right this LEGENDARY ARTIST! The Silver Age Hawkman had his debut in 1961 in Brave and Bold #34, these drawings were done two to three years prior to that. These historic drawings were from the Joe Kubert Estate and have been in the possession of the artist and his family since their creation, until 2016.
