Bob Layton drew this unpublished cover image of a photographer capturing Peter Parker changing into Spider-Man for the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #262. This cover was penciled, inked and ready for the printer before Marvel decided to experiment with an actual "photograph" cover. Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter suggested it be redone as an actual photograph as he was experimenting with the use of photo covers at the time to determine their impact on sales. The photo cover worked, and this finished cover from 1984 was not used, but we are left with this great vintage Spider-Man cover that the actual PHOTO cover was taken from. It is important to stress that this is "not" a recreation, reinterpretation or recent work. It is the actual cover art produced in 1984 and slated for production, before being set aside. This peice right here is the "ONLY" cover artwork ever drawn for this issue....There is no other cover artwork! Just a great opportunity here to own an AMAZING Spider-Man cover without paying CRAZY Amazing Spider-Man cover prices! Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to email@example.com and we can try to work something out.
