Check out this very nice piece of artwork, which was cut out from the 1966 Avengers #31 SPLASH, penciled by the great Don Heck, and inked by the great Frank Giacoia, from the story titled: "Never Bug a Giant!" This nice Captain America artwork has an interesting story behind it! Sol Brodsky became Production Manager at Marvel Comics in 1964, and in 1966, after this Avengers #31 splash was drawn, Sol Brodsky decided to cut this iconic Captain America image from this SPLASH page to use it for the MERRY MARVEL MARCHING SOCIETY advertisement which came out shortly after, (which can be seen in the red link above) This image is the EXACT Captain America image shown on the MERRY MARVEL MARCHING SOCIETY advertisement, but they brought Cap's shield in closer for the advertisement. So even though this piece was cut out, There was a Production dept reason for how this piece of artwork came to be, and this image was actually used SEVERAL times on various Marvel projects back in the 1960's. This artwork was found in Sol Brodsky's Production Dept in the 1980's by Marvel editor Mike Higgins. Compare this nice art to the published comic book splash in the red link above! Just a great opportunity here to own a NICE 1966 cap Pinup! (The left arm and chest of THE WASP is also seen on the cut out as well as Hawkeye's leg at the bottom) ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website!
